Biographical / Historical

Clarence Vern Yates was born on August 5, 1908 to parents Clarence Hyrum Yates and Eathel Iris Allred. He married Sara Urilda Dummer on March 31, 1927, and together they had one son, Martell Yates. He owned the Fred Astaire Dance Studio. He founded Yates Dance Records to provide quality dance music to instructors. He was involved in professional dance instruction as well as dance programs for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was called to serve on the general board of the Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association in 1958. He died on November 23, 1985 and was buried in Lehi, Utah.
