Biographical History

Gareth W. Lowe grew up in Long Beach, California. Lowe served in World War II as a radio operator in a B-17 bomber based in England. He received his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in 1953 and soon after became associated with the New World Archaeological Foundation (NWAF) based in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. He was the foremost authority on the pre-history of Chiapas, Mexico his best known contribution being the excavation of some of the earliest ceramics in Mesoamerica.
