Biographical History

Sidor Belarsky was a Russian Jew and a vocalist. He taught at Brigham Young University as Professor of Music from 1930 to 1933.

Belarsky was born Israel Mosieevitch Lifschitz in Odessa, Russia in 1900. He studied music at Odessa Conservatory, then studied in Berlin. He graduated from the Leningrad State Conservatory and became a member of the Leningrad State Opera Company. Dr. Franklin S. Belarsky went on to present song recitals from coast to coast. In opera, Belarsky was received as leading basso of the Chicago Civic Opera Company, the San Francisco Opera Company, the American Opera Company of Los Angeles, the New York City Center Company, Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro, and the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.
