Missionary Training Center records
Scope and Contents
Collection documents the operation of primarily the Provo Missionary Training Center; it is divided into series of language training materials, gospel teaching and missionary training materials, and floor plans (and similar/related documents) for other worldwide missionary training centers, visitors' centers, LDS Church historical sites, etc.
Contains language textbooks, foreign editions of Church materials, cultural guides, study plans and area handbooks, grammar and vocabulary aids, and electronic study resources; missionary and mission president seminar files, missionary discussions, the manuscript development of Preach My Gospel, and assorted evaluations and statistical research on missionary training and proselyting work. Materials dated approximately 1929-2017.

Restricted. Closed for 35 years from the date of creation of the records, and thereafter open to the public in accordance with the University Archives Policy.

It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain any necessary copyright clearances. Permission to publish material from Missionary Training Center records must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services and/or the Special Collections Coordinating Committee.
Administrative History
The Missionary Training Center (1978-) in Provo, Utah, trains missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before they depart to their specific assignments around the world.
The Missionary Training Center began operation in 1978 to replace the Language Training Mission. The campus can house up to 4,000 missionaries at a time. Approximately fifty languages are taught at the MTC by staff composed mostly of returned missionaries.

Arrangement
Arranged in three series: 1. Missionary Training Center records on language training, 1967-2017. 2. Missionary Training Center Gospel research and training materials, approximately 1929-2011. 3. Missionary Training Center floor plans, 1990-2011.
Custodial History
The materials were accumulated by the Missionary Training Center, then transferred to Brigham Young University Records Management. Records Management transferred them to University Archives in December 2001, October 2010, November 2014, and December 2015.
