Administrative History

The Computer Applications Department (1987-1994) was an administrative unit in the Harold B. Lee Library.

The Computer Applications Department was established in the fall of 1987 as part of the Collections Development Division of the library. In 1988 it was transferred to Technical Services Division. The department was responsible for the maintenance of library computers, fax machines, and routers. It also collaborated with the Automation Department to support the integrated library system (ILS). In 1994 the department was split to form the Library Information Systems Department.
