Scope and Contents note This project takes a look at how preparing breakfast is a gendered performance in a typical American household. The analysis claims that breakfast is a nurturing task that is usually assigned to the females in a family, and is evidence of patriarchal definitions of gender and family. The project looks at Mormon family and comments on patriarchal order and roles in several Mormon families. Includes interviews with ten informants about the preparation of breakfast.
