Letter from Thomas L. Kane to his sister, Elizabeth Kane (Bessie), telling her to tell John K. Kane that he needs to borrow one hundred dollars to repay a debt of honor. He says that his tent was ruined by the weather, so he stayed in another tent but it caught on fire while he was sleeping there. The one hundred dollars is to repay the tent owner for the damages. Dated May 18-20, 1845.

Letter from Thomas L. Kane to John K. Kane and Jane Duval Leiper Kane telling them about the cause of the fire that made his tent burn down and that he can't come home until his replacement arrives to where he is in Massachusetts. Dated May 19, 1845.

Thomas's letter describes a dream he had about making fame by a nineteenth century religion and describes the religion in the dream. He says he would like to go to New Orleans to get away from the harsh winters and to practice law. He mentions problems with the extended family. Robert's letter gives Elisha news about recent family events. Dated June 8-11, 1845.
