Handwritten and signed letter addressed to J.L. Storm. Bland states that he was an elected official in Carson County, Utah, (later Nevada) in 1860. This was the only elected political post he ever held until elected to the 43rd congress from Missouri. The item is undated.

Also included is the two envelopes in which the letters were sent and a postcard stating that Bloede had received a note from Aylesworth.

He also states, "The United States have furnished Africa with the most effective instrument of unlimited progress and development in the Republic of Liberia." Also included is a printed biography of Blyden which was clipped from a newspaper.
