Contains entries on migration to Utah in 1856; settlement in Provo, Utah; efforts to build irrigation canal in 1859; organization to settle Provo Valley (Heber); economic effect of Utah War; and the early development of Heber. Beginning in 1861, the retrospective account ends, and entries are made by month and day, including entries on farming, work on railroad, and the quarry name change.
