This collection contains publications, administrative files, and technology guides from the University Information System Advocate. It includes copies of the UNIS Signal newsletter, meeting minutes and correspondence, policies, and information on the technology systems on campus.

Conditions Governing Access

Restricted. Closed for 50 years from the date of creation of the records, and thereafter open to the public in accordance with the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Restriction Policy. Requests to access restricted materials in the University Archives should be submitted to the University Archivist.

It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain any necessary copyright clearances. Permission to publish material from University Information Systems records must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services and/or the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Board of Curators.

Biographical / Historical

The University Information System (UNIS) consisted of all machinery, data, systems, programs and personnel involved in or affected by the information processing technology of the University. This technology included computers, telephones, television and their networks. It also included print/copy processes and storage/retrieval systems. Three support organizations formed a family of UNIS academic support services: Print Services, Media Services, and Information System Services.
