This is an essay that appears to have been written for publication in either a newspaper or journal. It deals with the topic of levitation, and how to explain its historical occurrences. Numerous ideas are discussed: sorcery, bewitched souls, fairies, the use of mediums, and philosophy. Many writers on the subject are also treated.
