Scope and Contents note
Collection includes copies of a presentation given by the American University of Beirut Agricultural Sciences Faculty describing their ten year plan to train teachers, research workers and others needed in the area as leaders to implement effective agricultural practices and programs in order to improve conditions in the Middle East. The essay was presented on April 15, 1964 and is a follow up to a “Preliminary Plan” which was presented in 1962.

The American University of Beirut (1866- ) is located in Beirut, Lebanon and was built under a charter from the state of New York.
The American University of Beirut was first opened as the Syrian Protestant College in 1866 in Beirut, Lebanon, under a charter given by the state of New York. Its first original buildings were constructed and held classes starting in 1873. The name of the school was changed to American University of Beirut in 1920. Schools of medicine, pharmacy, and nursing were added in later years. The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture was established in 1951.
