Biographical / Historical

Cleone Smith Isom (1905-2000) is a 3rd great granddaughter of Joseph Smith, Sr. through his son Hyrum Smith. Her brother Eldred G. Smith (1907-2013) served as LDS Church Patriarch, as had the previous family generations back to Joseph Smith, Sr.

This collection was originally part of the large Joseph Smith Sr. family collection. In December 2001, these materials were divided into separate collections by provenance as follows: the Hyrum Smith papers (Vault MSS 774), the John Smith papers (Vault MSS 803), the Hyrum Fisher Smith papers (MSS 2362), and the Hyrum Gibbs Smith papers (Vault MSS 804). The documents comprising this collection were collected by Cleone Smith Isom.
