Phtocopy of correspondence, financial and legal documents, genealogial materials, newspaper clippings, and drafts of research papers. The materials relate to a wide variety of topics but mostly deal with Belnap (Belknap) family matters. A patriarchal blessing is found with the collection.

Biographical History

Marion Adaline Belnap was born on June 4, 1886, in Ogden, Utah Territories to Hyrum Belnap and Christian Rasmussen. Marion married Walter Affleck Kerr on June 7, 1911. She served as state chairman of the American Mothers’ Committee, Inc. for 11 years and regional chair for 9 years. She was secretary and treasurer of the Salt Lake City Minute Women, War Production Board, World War II. For 26 years Marion was a member of the Primary General Board for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was assistant editor of the Children's Friend for eleven years. During World War II, Marion received the Certificate of Merit, United States Navy, among other awards. She taught for five years in Utah public schools. She was named to the President's White House Conference for Children and for sixteen years was a member of the Regional Interviewing Committee for the U.S. Office of Education. Marion received a merit award in 1958 and a distinguished service diamond pin in 1960 from the American Mothers Committee. She died on April 12, 1972, at the age of 85 and was buried in Salt Lake City, Utah. Marian Adaline Belnap was a collector of family histories.
