Scope and Contents

Papers of Emma Priscilla Evans Little , including diaries, biographies, correspondence, notes, and patriarchal blessings. Little kept her diaries off and on from 1901 to 1941. There are many gaps including one from 1901 to 1922. Little documents her life on a ranch near Kanab, Utah, then later her life in Cedar City, Utah, starting in 1932. The correspondence is largely to and from family members, most of which was written between 1875 and 1914. The biographies are for members of the Evans, Little, and Merriman families. Also included are patriarchal blessings of family members, local community histories, and various notebooks kept by Little.

Biographical / Historical

Emma Priscilla Evans Little was born December 31, 1856, to parents Thomas David Evans and Priscilla Maerriman in Spanish Fork, Utah. Little lived on a ranch near Kanab, Utah, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She went on to marry James Little on August 24, 1877, in Spanish Fork, Utah, and together they had nine children. Emma lived in Ceder City, Utah beginning in 1932. She passed away on November 23, 1948, in Glendale, Utah.
