Scope and Contents

Handwritten autobiography, diaries, and typewritten and handwritten correspondence. Nye writes about his birth in England, his immigration to Australia, his joining the Mormon Church, and his subsequent migration to Utah from 1859 to 1860 where he settled in Ogden. His autobiography covers the time until 1881 when his diary begins. Nye served on a mission for the Mormon Church in Great Britain from 1882 to 1884. There is a gap in the record until 1896 when Nye was called to serve as the president of the California Mission for the Mormon Church where he served from 1896 to 1901.Also included is a letter-press book and some miscellaneous correspondence largely relating to Nye's service as mission president. The collection also includes two photographs; one of Nye and one of his wife.
