Scope and Contents

Handwritten diary and scrapbook. The journal was kept from 1 Jan. to 31 Dec. 1883 when Greenwood was serving as a missionary in New Zealand. He reports on his daily activities in entries that are often lengthy and detailed. The scrapbook was created by Alma's wife, Florence Greenwood. It contains newspaper clippings from the 1880s that relate to Mormons, Utah, and to national happenings.

Biographical History

Mormon educator who helped found the Millard Stake Academy and the Snow Academy in 1888. He also served as a missionary for the Mormon Church in New Zealand.

Related Materials

Greenwood's diary for 1882 is located in the Utah Historical Society. 2 photographs and their negatives are part of this collection. One photograph is of Greenwood, the other is of Greenwood and some of his missionary companions. The pictures and negatives were paper clipped inside the front cover of the journal, but have been moved to the cold vault for preservation.
