Scope and Contents

Contains documents from the Oliver Cowdery family and from the state of Vermont. Two documents, a deed and a notice of lost property, are signed by William Cowdery, Oliver's father. Also includes a land auction record from Wells, Vermont, and an original printed proclamation from the governor of Vermont regarding Shays' Rebellion (1786-1787). Other items include newspaper clippings from Vermont newspapers on 19th century Mormonism, Oliver Cowdery, and the Oliver Cowdery Marker dedication in Wells. Also includes an 1868 edition of "History of Vermont from its Discovery to its Admission into the Union in 1791" by Hiland Hall, and a photograph dated March 1990.
