Scope and Contents

Photocopy of microfilm copy of a typed autobiography. Cheney writes about her early life and her conversion to the Mormon Church in 1837. She moved with her family to Nauvoo, Illinois, where she heard sermons by Joseph Smith (1805-1844), the first president of the Mormon Church. She also heard Brigham Young (1801-1877), second president of the Mormon Church. Talitha married William Howard Avery in 1844. He died in 1847. She migrated to Utah in 1853 and married Elam Cheney. She lived in Fairview, Utah, and later moved to Castle Valley, Utah. Also included is a photocopy of a microfilm copy of a handwritten biography of Talitha written by a granddaughter.
