Biographical History

Ralph Woodward (1918-2005) served as a Special Services Officer in Japan during the Second World War. He also taught voice lessons and conducting at Brigham Young University from 1955 to 1984.

Ralph Woodward was born November 21, 1918 in Shelley, Idaho, to Alonzo "Lon" Woodward and Alta Mary Stanley Woodward. He graduated from the University of Idaho in 1940. In 1942, Ralph married Margaret Barclay. During the Second World War, Ralph served as a Special Services Officer in Japan. He taught voice lessons and conducting at Brigham Young University from 1955 to 1984, when he retired. His wife, Margaret, died in 1987, and in 1988, he remarried Mary Brown Firmage. Ralph died September 6, 2005.
