Biographical / Historical

Joseph Byron Smith (1906-1997) was a descendant of Joseph Smith, Sr. and a convert to the Mormon church.

Joseph Byron Smith was born on December 1, 1906 to Joseph Bailey and Effie Howell Smith. He grew up in Utah and married Emma Elvira Jones in 1925. They had three children. Originally a member of the Reorganized Latter-Day Saints church, he converted to the Mormon church after seventeen years. He was a representative of the Samuel H. Smith branch of the Joseph Smith, Sr. family. He died in on August 8, 1997.
