Some of the papers are an edited transcript of an oral history interview that was recorded onto tape cassettes.

Biographical History

James Bassett Jacobson (born 1922) is an insurance industry executive in California.

Born in 1922, James Jacobson grew up in Los Angeles, California. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and, upon returning, earned his MBA and began a thirty-five year career with The Prudential Insurance Company of America. Serving in various regional and national executive positions, Jacobson retired in 1983 and continued his business career as a private consultant, president and CEO of a large insurance company, chairman of the board of directors of Bonneville International, and as a member of two dozen other corporate boards. Jacobson also actively served in various positions within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active in local civic and cultural groups. He and his wife Janice, who passed away in 2001, had three children. He later married Lesley Evans in 2004.
