Scope and Contents

Photocopies of newspaper clippings and photocopies of typewritten histories. The materials relate to the history of Manchester and Shortsville, New York, and nearby areas. Included are "Manchester in the Early Days" by Charles W. Brown, notes for a "History of Methodism in Phelps" by M. P. Blakeslee, and miscellaneous articles. This Charles Brown may have been Charles Walter Brown (1866-1934), a historian and author. Many of these materials relate to the early history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New York State. These items were gathered as a result of a Brigham Young University Institute of Mormon Studies project.
