Scope and Contents note

Contains the teletype message, dated August 15, 1945, from General Headquarters United States Army Forces, Pacific to General Douglas MacArthur notifying General MacArthur of "Japanese capitulation." There is also a transcribed copy of the diary that Max Snow kept during his service in the Second World War, dated from February 16, 1945 to April 17, 1945.

Biographical History

Max Snow (1916-1988) was an educator in Idaho. He served in the United States Army during the Second World War.

William Max Snow was born on January 29, 1916 to Douglas Arthur Snow and Annie Laura Gibbons. He married Rhea Marriott on August 23, 1939. Together they had three children. Shortly after their marriage, Max was called to serve in the United States Army during the Second World War. Max died May 6, 1988.
