Jane Foote Taylor and Stayner Richards papers

 Collection — Multiple Containers
Identifier: MSS 1568

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of letters, papers, miscellaneous items, and a diary. Twenty-three of the letters were written by Stayner Richards and six were written by his wife, Jane Foote Taylor Richards, to their daughter Mae Fotheringham. They were written while Sayner was president of the British Mission. The materials are concerned with family, mission, and Mormon Church matters. They also describe the various places Stayner and Janes visited while in Great Britain. The papers and miscellaneous items cover the timeframe 1903 to 1975 and include Stayner's patriarchal blessing, references from Mormon Church leaders and friends, incoming letters, photocopied newsclippings relating to his death, some memorabilia, and family histories of both the Richards and Stayner families. Also included are materials relating to his wife. The diary was kept by Stayner while he served as a missionary in Great Britain from 1908-1910. He tells of his travels, missionary work, contacts with members, church meetings, and of the activities of the missionaries.
