Biographical / Historical

Rose Zipporah Marsh Butler was born March 3, 1882, in London, England, to Edwin Marsh and Margaret Forder. Her parents were converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and sent Rose to live with other Saints in Utah in 1888. There, Rose was raised by Sarah and William Beecher in Willard, Utah, as her parents were never able to immigrate to Utah. Rose married Heber Close Butler on February 11, 1904, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had ten children and resided in Garland, Utah, where Rose was very active in the Church’s Primary and Relief Society programs. Rose passed away June 29, 1968, in Ogden, Utah.
