Biographical / Historical

Howard Gonzales was born in Long Beach, California, in 1928. His mother was descended from Dutch pioneers and his father was a Mexican immigrant. Howard attended Brigham Young University and graduated in June 1954 with a bachelor's degree in accounting with a minor in finance and banking. During college, Howard was a member of the ROTC and after his graduation was sent to Germany as a member of the United States military. After finishing his military service, Howard spent over thirty-two years working for the U.S. Treasury. Howard married Norma Lizet Williams on May 13, 1960, in the Los Angeles temple, and together they adopted four children. During his later years, Howard authored an autobiography of his life.
