Biographical History

Aphek Woodruff (1778-1861) was a Mormon miller in Utah.

Aphek Woodruff was born on November 11, 1778 to Eldad Woodruff and Dinah Woodford in Farmington, Connecticut. As a young man, he worked as a miller and small-time farmer. Woodruff continued work at the same mill for fifty years and was revered for his strong work ethic. He married Beulah Thompson on November 25, 1801 in Farmington, Connecticut, and together they had three children. After Beulah's death in 1808, he married Azuba Hart on November 9, 1809 and had another six children, only one of whom survived into adulthood. Woodruff was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by his son Wilford (a later president of the church) and baptized on July 1, 1838. In 1847, he traveled to the Salt Lake Valley with other Mormon pioneers. Aphek Woodruff died on May 28, 1861 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
