Contains the diary Thomas Peter Thompson kept while serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States Mission, beginning April 13, 1898, and a transcription of the diary. Also includes Thompson's missionary certificate, signed by Wilford Woodruff, George Q. Cannon, and Joseph F. Smith. Dated 1898-1900.

Biographical History

Thomas Peter Thompson (1862-1936) was a General Authority of the Quorum of the Seventy for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a farmer from Ephraim, Utah.

Thomas Peter Thompson was born to parents Andrew Thompson and Christiana Jenson on February 7, 1862 in Ephraim, Utah. He was baptized a member of the church in 1870 at age eight, and married Hannah Christiansen at age 23 on April 8, 1885. Together they had seven children: Hannah Delphia, Thomas Leonard, Niels Kimball, Cathrine Christiana, Josephine Anna, Lenore Maria, and Grant Andrew. At age 36, Thomas was called to serve in the Northern States Mission. He was set apart on April 13, 1898, and ended his mission on April 4, 1900. He lived in Ephraim as a farmer with his family until he died on February 6, 1936, a day before his 74th birthday.
