Content Description

Contains materials relating to the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kentucky since the beginning of the 20th century. Includes copies of journal entries of many of the early church members in Kentucky (as well as other historical documents), a compiled "History of Mormonism in Christian County, Kentucky," and records of the Mission Sunday School of the Hopkinsville Branch located in Christian County. Materials dated 2012-2014.

Biographical History

Robert Fears (1940- ) is a former bishop, stake president, Seventy and patriarch in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Robert Lawrence Fears was born on August 8, 1940 in Princeton, Kentucky. He was the second child of Ira Laurence and Ruby Bowling Fears. At the age of eight, Bob, as he would come to be known, was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah in the Tabernacle on Temple Square. Bob later attended Brigham Young University and later the University of Kentucky Law School. He served a full time mission for the Church in the Northern States mission where he met his wife Peggy Heninger in Raymond, Alberta, Canada. They were sealed in the Alberta Temple on September 1, 1965. They have ten children, thirty-two grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. They have lived in Hopkinsville, Kentucky since 1972 and where he has a successful law practice. Bob and Peggy have been active members of the Hopkinsvile Ward and Stake. Bob has served as the Bishop, the first Stake President, as a Seventy, and is now serving as the Stake Patriarch. Bob's love of history has spurred him to undertake several historical projects.

Bob and his wife reside in Kentucky.
