Biographical history

Dan Franklin was a songwriter and musician from Los Angeles, California. Franklin, Dan (89) Songwriter, Warner Bros. Music Supervisor Dan Franklin began his musical career in New York as a boy prodigy on the violin before becoming a successful songwriter and arranger, penning many hits in the 1930's including "Practice Makes Perfect" and "Heart of Gold". Many of his songs were recorded by such notables as Fats Waller, Tex Beneke and Roy Rogers. Danny moved to Calif. in 1950 with his soon to be wife, Anita, and began a 40- year career at Warner Bros. where he soon became supervisor of the Music Preparation Dept. in which he continued to participate even after retirement. He was preceded in death, less than two months ago, by his beautiful wife of 51 years, Anita. Besides being known and appreciated for his musical brilliance, he will be especially remembered for his gentle nature and kindness to all. He was very much loved by so many. Danny passed away Monday, January 14, 2002, just one week shy of his 90th birthday. He is survived by his son Joel and daughter Barbara.
