The United Press International was created in 1907 as the United Press Associations. It provides newswires, photo, news film and audio services to thousands of newspapers, magazines and radio and television stations. In 1958, it became United Press International after absorbing the International News Service. Throughout its history, it has acquired numerous other businesses, including The Acme News Pictures in 1952.
