Biographical / Historical

Carl Walter Meiners was born March 30, 1897 in Bremen, Germany to August Franz Eugen Weinberger and Johanne Helene Auguste Meiners Weinberger. Shortly after his birth, he was informally adopted by John Henry Meiners, Sr. (brother of Johanne Meiners Weinberger) and Emma Josephine Voight Meiners. By 1903, John Henry and Emma had converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and decided to immigrate to Utah; at this point a formal adoption agreement was reached. Carl married Mary Alice Bauer on June 6, 1918, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Carl worked throughout his life as a professional photographer. He and his wife had seven children. Carl died April 17, 1984 in Rupert, Idaho.
