Naturally pregnant : moms and babies going back to the basics / Brittney Elise Byington, 2008
Scope and Contents note
This project is a collection of the lore surrounding "organic pregnancy", or the preference of some women to have a "natural" childbirthing process. The analysis gives context through historical and technological advances that have decreased infant mortality rate, and notes that in spite of these advances, some women opt for a natural childbirth experience without some of the medical helps. Reasons include economic factors, concern for the environment and organic food interests, and a return to the natural state for the well-being of the baby. The collection includes C-section nightmare, breastfeeding as a bonding experience, just say no to formula, cloth diaper catastrophe, drug-free delivery, accidental home birth, healthy eats, healthy baby, midwifery, and others. Collected by Brittney Elise Byington, Dr. Rudy's ENGL 392 class, Winter 2008.
