Administrative History
The World Harp Congress is a private international non-profit organization that was founded in 1981 by Phia Berghout and Maria Korchinska. It has members in over fifty countries around the world.
The World Harp Congress (WHC) was founded by Phia Berghout and Maria Korchinska in 1981 as an outgrowth of the International Harpweeks in The Netherlands. Anyone is allowed to join, even those who are just interested in the harp and not actual harpists. Every three years, the WHC holds a conference in a different country. They usually consist of concerts, workshops, masterclasses, and seminars relating to the harp. The WHC also publishes the World Harp Congress Review twice a year, which includes news from over fifty different countries.
