Scope and Contents note

Materials contain a memoir of Carrol N. White, in which he tells of his time as a gunner's mate in the U.S. Navy on an attack transport in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. He talks of some of the day to day operations of the ship, and of some of his more memorable experiences, including an attack from Japanese Kamikazes, one of whom successfully crashed into the ship neighboring his. He also speaks of his religious experiences, and of the incredible chance meeting of his brother, who was in the Army, on another ship in the middle of the ocean. File also contains some emails from White to to Robert Freeman concerning White's time in the military and photocopied photographs of White and many other men aboard the ship. Dated approximately 1944, 2000.
