File contains materials related to the service of Alma Sonne in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Materials contain very detailed account of Alma Sonne's combat experiences during the Battle of Iwo Jima titled "How I survived IWO JIMA". He discusses how his platoon made the initial landing and served on the front lines throughout the battle. Includes photocopied photograph of Sonne in his dress uniform. Also contains the portion of his autobiography titled "War Years." Dated before 2000.
