Ready references, a compilation of scripture texts, arranged in subjective order, with numerous annotations from eminent writers, designed especially for the use of missionaries and scripture students, 1891

 Item — Box: 1, Folder: 3
Identifier: MSS 2332 Series 1 Item 1

Scope and Contents

Book was carried by Joseph Facer on his Southern States Mission (1897-1899). The last seventeen pages contain hand-written notes by Facer relating to the blessing of the sick, priesthood ordinations, the consecration of oil, confirmation of converts, and scriptural references. Beginning with page seven Facer recorded original hymn lyrics written by his fellow missionaries. One appears to have been created by Facer himself. In one set, the lyrics are to be sung along with the tunes "John Brown's Body" or "Napsack." Inside the book is an article from a newspaper; the article is entitled "Big Churches Copy Small Ones, Collect Tithing."
