Biography

Eliza Westover (1829-1823) was a Mormon pioneer.

Eliza Westover was born Eliza Ann Haven on May 15, 1929 in Holliston, Massachusetts to parents John Haven and Judith Wood Temple. Her family crossed the plains with the original Mormon pioneers, where she met her husband. Eliza married Charles Westover on October 14, 1949 with whom she had eleven children. She worked at a straw business while she lived in Utah. On january 20, 1923, Eliza died at the age of 93.

Photocopy of a handwritten letter with a typescript of the item. Westover writes to "Lew" in response to his questions about the first president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joseph Smith (1805-1844). She outlines her life and tells of her conversion to the LDS Church, her life in Nauvoo, Illinois, the death of Joseph Smith, and her migration to Utah.
