Biographical History

James H. Lawrence (1917-1972) was a sportscaster and program manager in Utah and Idaho.

James Harold Lawrence was born on May 2, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Stanley Thomas Lawrence and Vera May Armstrong. Raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a missionary in Australia between 1937 and 1939. After his return he married Mary Ann Caldwell, and they had five children.

Lawrence worked in radio broadcasting at stations in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Salt Lake City, and Provo, Utah. During World War II he also served as a combat reporter at Iwo Jima and in Japan. In Provo, he worked with Brigham Young University, serving as chair of the university's Program Bureau and broadcasting at sporting events.

James H. Lawrence passed away on July 13, 1972 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
