Biography

Lyle Curtis (1918-1978) was Director of the Wilkinson Center at Brigham Young University from 1964 to 1978.

Lyle Curtis was born February 5, 1918, in Fairview, Wyoming, to Clarence Shipp Curtis and Annie Maria Bates. He married Dorothy Williams on August 26, 1939 in Washington, D.C. Lyle received a degree from George Washington University in business administration and worked as a special agent for the FBI in Washington, D.C. for nine years. He served in executive positions with the ACUI (Association of College Unions International) for 13 years, and as an executive assistant to the president of Hot Shoppes Caterers, Inc., in Washington, D.C. In 1964, when the Wilkinson Center at Brigham Young University opened, Lyle served began serving as its director, and stayed in that position until his death in 1978. The responsibilities of director thereafter were assumed by Robert Moss, A.C. Eitner, and F. Curtis Wynder. Lyle passed away September 27, 1978, in Provo, Utah.
