Biographical History

Elizabeth Hoagland Cannon (1835-1882) was a wife, mother, and missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah.

Elizabeth Hoagland was born on November 7, 1835 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Abraham Lucas Hoagland and Margaret Quick. In 1847, Elizabeth traveled with her parents and siblings to Utah. While in Utah, Elizabeth married George Quayle Cannon on December 11, 1854 in Salt Lake City. In 1855, Elizabeth accompanied George on a mission to California. Although, two years later Elizabeth and George returned to Utah. In 1860, Elizabeth accompanied George on a second mission to England. Throughout the years, Elizabeth and George had twelve children together--Rosina Matthews Cannon Lambert (1852-1939), George Quayle Jr. Cannon (1856-1856), John Quayle Cannon (1857-1931), Abraham Hoagland Cannon (1859-1896), Georgianna Hoagland Cannon (1861-1863), George Hoagland Cannon (1863-1863), Elizabeth Hoagland Cannon (1865-1867), Mary Alice Hoagland Cannon Cannon (1867-1909), Lilian Ann Hoagland Cannon (1869-1870), David Hoagland Cannon (1871-1892), Emily Hoagland Cannnon Willey (1874-1955), and Sylvester Quayle Cannon (1877-1943). Elizabeth Hoagland Cannon passed away on January 25, 1882 in Salt Lake City, Utah and is buried in Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Abstract Boxes 1 and 2 being mostly manuscript material and booklets (as well as a few photographs), and boxes 3-5 being diaries and a folder of photocopies from a scrapbook and an autobiography.
