Biographical History

Kay L. Harline (1933-2015) was a wife and mother in California.

Kay Lorraine Swingle was born August 2, 1933, in Santa Monica, California to her parents Lorraine and Earle Swingle. Throughout her childhood, her family moved quite frequently--having lived in such places including Lake Forrest, Illinois and Miami Beach, Florida during her pre-teen years. Nevertheless, her family often vacationed in California (to places like Yosemite and Sequoia) and eventually moved back to the state (near Beverly Hills) where she graduated in Dorsey High in 1951 and attended one year at the University of California, Los Angeles.

In 1955, while performing in her local singles choir she met recently-divorced Lloyd Harline. After nine months of dating, they married in November of that year in the Latter-day Saint Saint George Temple and moved to Redondo, California with Lloyd's two kids from his previous marriage. While serving as a stay-at-home mother with their kids (which would total eight), she often took classes on the side to increase her learning and served in her local community as a Girl Scout leader, a Boy Scout leader, and a member of the PTA in the San Joaquin Valley. After her kids grew up, she and Lloyd moved to Orem, Utah, to be closer to her children and grandchildren (many of whom were attending college at Brigham Young University or, at that time, Utah Valley State College) and often used the couple's free time to travel to places like Europe, East and Central United States, and Hawaii.

She passed away on October 10, 2014.
