Biographical History

Charles Alfred Harper (1817-1900) was a pioneer and missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Dec. 19, 1839 to Lavina Wollerton Dilworth (1818-1903), 11 children; m. Dec. 2, 1855 to Harriet Taylor (1836-1907), 8 children; m. Apr. 18, 1856 to Mary Ann Harris (b. 1836); m. Jan. 17, 1863 to Mary Ann Colls; served as missionary in Great Britain twice; helped settle Carson City, Nev.; also lived in Parley's Park, Summit County, Utah and in Lehi, Ariz.; d. Apr. 24, 1900 in Holladay, Salt Lake City, Utah)

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a handwritten diary and a biography of Harper. The diary covers the dates from April 7 to August 8, 1847 when Harper came to Utah with one of the earliest Mormon pioneer companies. He worked as a wheelwright. Also included are notes of financial transactions in Holladay, Utah, in 1895.
