Biography
Frederick William Benteen; born August 24, 1834, Petersburg, Virginia; died June 22, 1898, Atlanta, Georgia; Served in the American Civil War in the Union Army; also the United States Army during the Indian Campaigns including the Great Sioux War and the 7th U.S. Cavalry at the Battle of the Little Bighorn; moved with family from Petersburg, Virginia to St. Louis, Missouri in 1849.
