Biography
Jacob G. Bigler was born on April 4, 1813, in Shinnston, Harrison, West Virginia to Mark Bigler and Susannah Ogden. He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 10, 1838, in Missouri. He married Mary Ann Boggess on March 25, 1841, in Harrison, West Virginia. Together they had one child. Jacob moved to Nauvoo, Illinois in May 1842. Mary Ann and their son died in October of that year. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Southern States in 1843. On January 31, 1844, he married Amy Lorette Chase in Nauvoo, Illinois. Together they had eleven children. He and his family emigrated to Utah in 1852. While traveling to Utah, he married Armelia Caroline Mangum on February 12, 1852, in Kanesville, Iowa. Together they had seven children. Upon arrival in Utah, Jacob also married Nancy Ann Keller on November 25, 1855, and Eliza Cannon on October 10, 1867. Jacob served in the Nephi legislative assembly and was elected mayor. Jacob died on February 23, 1907, in Nephi, Utah.
