Biographical History

John Scott (1811-1876) was an early convert and missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the British Isles. His parents and siblings also converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and moved to the United States. After the death of Joseph Smith, John Scott immigrated to Utah while most of his family joined the Strangites in Wisconsin.

Scope and Contents

Typewritten copy of a diary. Scott kept the first part of this diary in 1847 and in 1848 when preparing to migrate from Winter Quarters, Nebraska to Utah. He also kept his diary from 1855 to 1856 while serving on a mission for the Mormon Church in Ireland. Also included is a patriarchal blessing given to Scott.
