Biographical History

H. H. Cluff (1836-1916) was banker and ecclesiatical leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a mission president in Hawaii and as counselor in the Utah Stake for the Church.

Scope and Contents Handwritten letter dated April 7, 1904 and addressed to Harvey H. Cluff. Smith regrets not answering Cluff's letters earlier. He mentions how he felt after the second day of his examination before a U.S. Congressional committee investigating the Mormon Church. The hearings related to the question of whether or not to seat Senator Reed Smoot of Utah.
