Clayton writes about his missionary activities for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England and his return to the United States. He also writes about his daily activities in Nauvoo, Illinois. This item was typed by Alan S. Young in 1961. Also included are extensive footnotes relating to Clayton's entries into his journal. Clayton writes about his missionary activities for the Mormon Church in England and his return to the United States. He also writes about his daily activities in Nauvoo, Illinois. Clayton's diary was published by James B. Allen and Thomas G. Alexander under the title: "Manchester Mormons: the Journal of William Clayton."

Handwritten, signed, and printed indenture dated 26 April 1844. Smith makes an agreement with William Richards regarding a sale of land in Nauvoo, Illinois. The item was signed by Smith, W. W. Phelps, and William Clayton.
