Biographical History

Bruce Arnie Barrett Jr. was born October 21, 1929, to Bruce Arnie Barrett Sr. and Josie Myrtle Ross in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served in the Army Air Corps in the Occupational Army stationed in Japan as a photographer (1946-1949). He married Eunice Mortensen August 3, 1950. They had six children. He retired from Brigham Young University in 1995 as the Director of Auxiliary Services. Bruce died September 4, 2010, in Orem, Utah.

Scope and Contents The collection contains black and white photographs and negatives taken by Bruce A. Barrett, and correspondence, newspaper clippings, a camera, and other artifacts collected by Barrett during his service as a photographer in the Army Air Corps in the Occupational Army stationed in Japan. He was stationed at the Tachikawa Air Force Base. The photographs are of personnel and events associated with the 317th Troop Transport Command and 374th Troop Transport Command.
